UAWC completes a specialized training in irrigation networks
Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) in cooperation with the General
Administration of Water and Irrigation unit in the Palestinian Ministry of
Agriculture, completed a specialized training about irrigation networks in the
Jordan Valley, attended by 76 male and female farmers from Jericho and Tubas governorates.
This training comes within “Defending the rights of Palestinians in land and
water in the Jordan Valley”, which is funded by IFA Foundation and in
cooperation with Medico International.
addition, the project includes distribution of regular irrigation systems for
these farmers, who were selected by UAWC and the Ministry of Agriculture
according to previously determined criteria.
General Administration of Water and Irrigation unit represented by Eng. Mahmoud
Barham, Director of the Field Irrigation Department, and Eng. Ghassan Nairat from
Agriculture Directorate in Tubas governorate, held two training courses about drip
irrigation systems and the importance of their uses in their own villages.
project manager, Dr. Moayyad Bisharat, stressed on the notion that this
training comes as a result of the great cooperation between UAWC and the
Ministry of Agriculture, where both aim at building the capacities of farmers
in practical and theoretical aspects to reach for full sustainable development
for agricultural sector in Palestine.
